The Chicago Cubs look to get Nearer into the St. Louis Cardinals with a win and some help from the Pirates at Pittsburgh.

The Pirates did their part last night using a win over the NL Central Cardinals. The Cubs didn’t draw closer because of a loss to the Brewers. They even took a 1-0 lead at the 3rd and things turned to mush in a rush.
The Brewers responded with 4 runs in the bottom half of the inning and cruised to a 7-1 win Friday night at Miller Park. With the loss, the Diamondbacks were able to inch in the wildcard search. The Cubs hold a 2.5-game advantage about the Diamondbacks going into today. Only the fact that we are speaking about the Diamondbacks is still really a triumph for them.
So far as the Brewers are involved, they have an outside shot at going to the postseason. So there’s some thing to play for this season, at least in the present time, their season is not dead yet. The Brewers are connected with Phillies and the Mets that are all four games back of the final wildcard. The largest disappointing season that team must visit the Phillies. They had been the team who spent dollars for one participant in the offseason.
The Cubs are a disappointing year. They’ve got too much talent on board to not at least go to the Wild Card Game. It will be a long offseason for the Cubs if they throw away this, however they also control their own fate with a 2.5-game lead.
Yu Darvish pitching down the stretch could help contribute to that. Darvish has provided a increase recently and watching him fight down the stretch would be disastrous to the Cubs. Darvish is expected to get the start Saturday against Gio Gonzalez. Head under for our complimentary Cubs vs. Brewers pick.

Since then, Darvish has three trips where he blanked the opposition together with no runs.
His most notable of the group had been from the Phillies on August 15th, in which Darvish allowed 4 hits and no runs. In his functionality, Darvish was powerful with 1-run allowed against the Mets and 5 hits. Also note that on the board, he’s allowed fewer or 2 runs in six of the last nine outings. Darvish was excellent in spurts lately. We’ll see if he can get one of those starts against the Brewers in Milwaukee.
The street has been nice to Darvish and he’s been great. Darvish has recently posted an ERA of 3.50 and 1.04 WHIP in 82.1 innings on the road. Moreover, the Brewers are currently hitting on on just .202 from 104 at-bats against Darvish. Gio Gonzalez was good against the Cubs too, but they have also scored 17 runs against him in 198 at-bats.
Gio was struggling of late, with a 5.54 ERA and 1.85 WHIP in his past three outings. Miller Park was a haunted home for himas he has gotten hammered to get a 5.64 ERA rather than a 2.92 ERA in the street. The extended balls have hurt him, yielding 6 of these within 30.1 innings of work. Following a discouraging performance Friday night, expect the Cubs to return to Miller Park having a much better attempt. Consider the Cubs here.
